  4. In a small bowl, mix the bicarbonate of soda and water. Add this mixture to the butter and syrup mixture and stir until frothy.
  5. Add the frothy mixture to the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
  6. Take tablespoons full of the mixture and roll into balls. Place the balls on a baking tray lined with baking paper and flatten with your fingers or a fork.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Let your biscuits cool on the tray for a few minutes, then transfer them onto a wire rack to cool completely.
